What is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)?

Among the services provided by the CDBS are examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals, and extractions. Additionally, it does not cover orthodontics or aesthetic dental work and cannot be paid for services received in a hospital.
A maximum of $1,000 per eligible child will be provided over two years. In any case, such benefits cannot be carried over from one period to another, so anything not used during that period cannot be used the following year.

How Does The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) Work?

The Children’s Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) will be set at $1,000 per two-year period for qualified children. CDBS payments may be used to pay for treatments at Gateway Dental Centre. The payment of $1,000 may be applied in full or spread over two years.

Additionally, any remaining funds won’t be available once your child is no longer eligible. In contrast, your health insurance payment cannot be used with CDBS for the same treatment.

Make an appointment with Gateways Dental Centre.

Please notify us when scheduling an appointment if you want to utilise CDBS. Determine how close you are to the limit, as your benefit amount will depend on it. Additionally, our dentist will evaluate your child’s eligibility for benefits during their appointment.

Talk to the dentist about the treatment that your child needs.

Find out what each service will cost and whether CDBS will cover it when visiting the dentist. We will provide you with a consent form once you’ve agreed on the treatments and pricing.

You will receive a bill upon completion of your treatment.

Medicare benefits under CDBS can be claimed via the Express Plus Medicare app, your Medicare online account through myGov, or by mailing or dropping off a Medicare Claim form at your local service centre. The benefits will be credited to your bank account after Medicare has processed your claim.
